Documents obtained by the Bay State Examiner show Mayor Marty Walsh’s hypocrisy on accepting money from Boston 2024, the group trying to bring the Olympics to the city that year. Walsh and his staff had $4,613.92 of their travel expenses paid by Boston 2024 for brief trip to California to help the group make their presentation to the United States Olympic Committee. Walsh and his Chief of Staff Daniel Koh flew along with two Boston police officers as representatives of Boston. Walsh was quick to criticize Deval Patrick for accepting payment from Boston 2024 for days spent traveling. Deval's fee was much higher at $7,500 per day, but Walsh said Patrick shouldn't be paid "at all" for helping the group.
We still have requests that haven't been answered for the other costs associated with Mayor Walsh's trip. The major taxpayer expense for the trip could include pay for the two police officers who accompanied Walsh.
We reached out to Walsh’s administration but they did not respond to our request for comment.
