Boston Mayor Marty Walsh thinks it's “silly” that people are upset he never read the Boston 2024 Olympic bid before signing it and joining himself at the hip with the group trying to bring the Olympics to the city. What kind of self-respecting mayor would need to read a multibillion dollar plan that will affect the city's development for years to come before signing it?
After all, Walsh was elected to lead, not to read. That's what lawyers are for.
Unless, of course, the lawyers were never given copies of what they were supposed to read.
Speaking with Fox 25 on Wednesday, Walsh explained that lawyers for the city only got “most of what was in the bid book.”
Those comments were made two days after Walsh admitted to WGBH that he didn't personally read the bid, but claimed city attorneys had read it, suggesting they read the entire thing.
After we contacted the city about the WGBH comments, the city said they never got a copy of the bid book at all.
So now we have three stories about what the city did or didn't receive from Boston 2024.
And Walsh says we're silly.
